International drug lord Vicky Goswami has been deported to US from Kenya by Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) along with three associates, one of whom is a Pakistani.
Goswami and veteran actress Mamta Kulkarni were wanted in drug haul case by Thane Police. Police is now trying to get Goswami back to India to strengthen their case.
DEA officials visited Thane Commissionaire on Tuesday to share information on Goswami.
"We will speak to Indian authorities to get in touch with US Counterpart and help Goswami's extradition in India. There has been a healthy information sharing between Thane police and DEA in this case," said Thane Commissioner, Parambir Singh.
Vicky Goswami was tracked down from Mombasa in Kenya. He was arrested from a gold court and then brought to US for further investigation.
Ibrahim and Baktash Akasha, sons of a slain drug baron, and Gulam Hussein, a Pakistani national, were also brought to US where they are wanted for drug trafficking.
Goswami, son of a police officer from Gujarat, began as a bootlegger in the 80's. Trying out his hand in smuggling mandrax, he fled to Mumbai while he was on bail after he was arrested in a drug bust.
